Remember that adorable book I introduced on this Blog a month or so ago? The one about the boy, mole, fox and horse. There’s a page in it that reads…

“Is your glass half empty or half full?” asked the mole.

“I think I’m grateful to have a glass,” said the boy.”
― Charlie Mackesy, The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse

The glass half-full metaphor is all about perception. So let’s get real for a moment. Is your glass half empty? Half full? Do you even have a glass??

For me, finding optimism right now in life is extremely difficult. It takes a lot of searching. But my reality is my perception. So it is up to me! If I want a more positive reality, I have to do the work to change my perception.

Think about the story you’re living in right now. Mine feels like a nightmare! How do you change your nightmares? You can’t. Dreams are unconscious; you cannot dictate them. Something you can change is your perception. You can change your perception by simply waking up. Okay, now that you’re awake, how can you rewrite your story?

I’m going to rewrite my story about COVID-19. Instead of telling the story about social distancing. I’m going to write about personal exploration. My story is not going to list all of the things I cannot do. It’s going to list all of the things I can do! Today, I can dance in the rain, play video games, take a cat nap, enjoy a bubble bath, do arts and crafts, bake yummy treats for my neighbors and learn more about myself. I like the way that story sounds!

It’s all about giving ourselves choices. We thrive off of making our own choices. Choices give us power. COVID-19 has been taking a lot of choices away from all of us. And so we feel powerLESS. Today, you have the choice of your perception. You can choose to have a glass half empty, half full, no glass or the most beautiful glass this world has ever seen!

Once upon a time, the world was in a state of personal exploration. No one could gather together because this time was dedicated to people learning more about themselves. A woman decided to use this time to learn more about her likes and dislikes. And today, she learned how to love herself.

And she lived happily ever after. THE END.
